I Won't Say I'm in Love.

i want to say, "i love you," so bad
but i know i'm not allowed.
i've been told i can't,
it'll hurt too much again.
but i care about you,
and you know how to make me smile;
your sweet little comments
always brighten my day.
i need to get to you soon
so i can show you my love,
then together we'll be, i hope,
through time.

as i think about you so often, it hurts me to know we're apart. i know we haven't known each other for too long, but i do care about you. there are times when i picture us living together, our happy lives nicely joined in love, in our house, sharing one bed. it's more than i can take, and all i want is just to be with you.

Defying Gravity.

I hope you're happy
I hope you're happy, too
I hope you're proud how you
Would grovel in submission
To feed your own ambition

So though I can't imagine how
I hope you're happy right now

I could have all I ever wanted
I know
But I don't want it
No, I can't want it
Anymore

omething has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes and leap!

It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!

I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!

If you care to find me
Look to the western sky!
As someone told me lately:
"Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am
Defying gravity
I'm flying high
Defying gravity
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

From Defying Gravity, Wicked.

I'm not that Girl.

I'm Not That Girl, Wicked, as sung by "Elphaba."

Hands touch, eyes meet
Sudden silence, sudden heat
Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
He could be that boy
But I'm not that girl

Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
Don't remember that rush of joy
He could be that boy
I'm not that girl

Ev'ry so often we long to steal
To the land of what-might-have-been
But that doesn't soften the ache we feel
When reality sets back in

Blithe smile, lithe limb
She who's winsome, she wins him
Gold hair with a gentle curl
That's the girl he chose
And Heaven knows
I'm not that girl

Don't wish, don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl
There's a girl I know
He loves her so
I'm not that girl
